Logo design is important in many ways. It's quite often the only way your customers can recognise you. It promotes loyalty and some people choose a supplier based solely on how professional their image is. We believe your logo is the first point of contact.

The second they hear of your service or product, they don't see or recognise your mark or logo, you could lose them. You have to draw them toward your logo and have them remember your name. A strong logo can do this and more.

As a designer that specializes in logos for new business ventures, I am often asked ‘what makes a good logo?’ Answering that question is not as easy as it sounds.

A good logo is timeless. A good logo design is liked by the business owner, the viewer, and the designer. A good logo might tell something about the business (though, unbelievably, this is NOT carved in stone), but should be unique enough to be instantly recognized on subsequent viewing.

An effective logo design should be adaptable to many reproduction media, from 1 color low resolution (faxes) to full-color extravaganza (think full-page magazine/brochure advertisements). A more practical rule of thumb for any logo? Ask yourself - would YOU wear it on a golf-shirt. That usually tells volumes about any logo design around.

Different applications require different logo files. For example a newspaper ad might force you to use only black and white (and grey). You will have an optimised version of your logo in the BW folder.

Or you may find that you need your logo used at a smaller size, say in a sponsorship line up, and it isn’t as clear as you’d like it. By having a second variation that is better suited at smaller sizes ensures your logo will stand out amongst the others.
